FAQ
Practical answers for stays, arrival, facilities, and gatherings at Wild Rest Sanctuary. Still stuck? Contact us.
How do I book a stay?
Overnight stays at Wild Rest Sanctuary are booked through Hipcamp. Browse our accommodations, choose the glamping tent or campsite that fits your trip, and use the Book on Hipcamp button on that page to complete your reservation on the matching listing.
Listings typically accept bookings up to six months in advance, with a one-night minimum.
What kinds of accommodations do you offer?
We currently offer two ways to stay in the Meadow:
- Furnished glamping tents — Rainforest and Aspen (cozy doubles) and Night Sky (twin beds, great for friends or solo travelers who want their own sleep space).
- Meadow campsites — bring your own tent to a private site with a picnic table and fire pit.
Every site includes a private fire pit with a swing-over grill. Shared off-grid bathhouse facilities serve the meadow. See each accommodation page for capacity, amenities, and photos.
Where is Wild Rest Sanctuary, and how do I get there?
Wild Rest Sanctuary is at 5800 N 107th St, Kansas City, KS 66109 (Wyandotte County). See our map & directions for the entrance location.
On arrival, plan to meet with your host so we can welcome you and point you toward your site. Exact check-in notes are also shared after you book on Hipcamp.
What should I know about parking and vehicle access?
Sites are reached by a short walk from parking—vehicles stay in the designated parking area rather than at each campsite. Plan on a maximum of one vehicle per booking.
The driveway and approach are 2WD accessible for typical passenger cars (yes, including a BMW). Drive carefully, especially after rain, and leave room for other guests to come and go.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Typical check-in is 2:00 PM–10:00 PM, and check-out is before 12:00 PM. Please meet your host on arrival.
Need an early or late check-in? Message us through your Hipcamp reservation or contact us ahead of time and we’ll do our best to coordinate.
What bathroom, water, and shower facilities are available?
Guests share a thoughtfully designed off-grid bathhouse: separate men’s and women’s areas with private restroom tents (portable capsule flushing toilets), a private shower tent with changing room, and a handwashing station.
Potable water is available from onsite storage tanks for showers and cleaning. We encourage guests to bring drinking water as well. Showers are cold by default; heaters can warm the water when connected to power—you may rent a solar battery from us or bring your own.
Are campfires and outdoor cooking allowed?
Yes. Every glamping site and campsite has a private fire pit with a swing-over grill for cooking, coffee, and evening fires.
Please bring your own firewood when you can. You’re welcome to gather fallen branches or cut limbs already on the ground—do not cut or break branches from standing trees. Follow all fire-safety guidance from your host and local burn restrictions.
Want a full camp kitchen? Ask about our optional Hospitality Tent add-on (lounge space plus a propane cooktop, cookware, dishes, and more) when available on your listing.
Is there Wi-Fi?
High-speed satellite Wi-Fi is available as an optional add-on for about $5 per night for guests who want to stay connected. Cell coverage can vary across the property, so download maps or playlists before you arrive if you’ll be offline.
Are pets allowed?
Dogs are welcome when kept on leash and under control. Please review the pet-friendly details on your Hipcamp listing before you book, pack waste bags, and help us keep the meadow welcoming for wildlife and other guests.
What should I bring?
Pack for an outdoor stay. Helpful essentials include:
- Drinking water (and refillable bottles)
- Weather-ready clothing, sturdy shoes, layers, and rain gear
- Flashlight or headlamp
- Firewood if you plan on campfires
- Food, coolers, and any cooking extras you prefer (or reserve the Hospitality Tent when available)
- Sun protection, bug protection, and personal toiletries
- For meadow campsites: your tent, sleeping gear, and camping setup
Glamping tents arrive furnished with bedding and basic site furniture—check your listing for what’s included so you don’t overpack.
Is the sanctuary wheelchair accessible?
Our meadow sites are reached by a short walk over natural terrain and are listed as not wheelchair accessible. Paths and surfaces can be uneven, soft, or muddy depending on the season.
If you have questions about mobility needs for a specific booking or event, please reach out before you reserve so we can share the most accurate guidance.
Can I host a private event or retreat?
Yes. Wild Rest welcomes retreats, ceremonies, workshops, and celebrations that care for the land and neighbors. Visit Host an Event or contact us with your dates, group size, and vision.
Public gatherings and programs are also listed on our Events page when scheduled.
How do cancellations work?
Overnight stays follow the Moderate cancellation policy shown on each Hipcamp listing—please review those terms before you book, since Hipcamp manages refunds for accommodations.
Event cancellation, refund, and transfer rules can vary by program. Details are published with each event registration and in our Participation Agreement.
